Mini Turkey Adventure !

Hey lovelies

The very first day we arrived in Turkey!

This will be a pretty long post, so please deal with me! Majority of the post will consist of pictures, so you won’t have to read THAT much!

First things first, I absolutely hate airports. The waiting pisses me off. So when we finally could get inside the plane, we had to wait 30 minutes before we departed. There were some issues or something. THAT, wasn’t that bad. The flight was about 3 hours which was also fine, because I my series to watch. THE WORST PART WAS WHEN THE PLANE WAS SUPPOSE TO LAND. Let’s say we were about to land at 12, there were 8 other planes that were suppose to land before us. That means we had to WAIT for about 45 minutes before we could land. We were just flying in circles untill we could get to the ground.

THEN, we had to take a bus for another hour to get to my cousins house! We left our house at 12:00 PM and arrived at my cousins place at 02:00 AM. DOES THAT MAKE SENSE?? NO, IT CERTAINLY DOES NOT.

In the morning we went out for breakfast. Apparently, it was a very famous place to eat and we had to wait in line to get a free table. It was very, very good, though! We had a basic traditional Turkish breakfast.

After that, my cousin suggested that we go to MiniaTurk. This is a museum kind of place where they make machete buildings from all around the country. We decided that, that was a great  idea!

ATTENTION! – THIS PART WILL BE HELLA LONG, IF YOU DON’T CARE ABOUT AWESOME LOOKING BUILDINGS, I’M REALY SORRY!

I’ll just talk a little bit about the buildings I found the most beautiful or interesting!

  – Ishak Pasha Palace –

This palace was built waaay back during the Ottoman Period. The guide told us that this building was one of the first few buildings in the world to use hot water to heat up the building!

 – Canakkale Sehit Graves –

This is not really a building, but rather a big graveyard. Here, all the soldiers who have died during the battle of Canakkale have been buried. Including my grandfather’s  grandfather! I have never been there, but I really want to go. These people have saved out country and have fought for our freedom. I think it will be very emotional if I would ever go there!

 – Safranbolu Evleri –

These buildings were built as houses back in the Ottoman Empire. A few years ago, we went to the area where these were built and it was so cute! They made hotels out of the houses and they kept the insides the same as the way they looked hundreds of years ago! I’m not sure if people still use these buildings as houses, though. They are very easy to recognize due to their shapes and color!

 – Temple of Artemis –

This temple is actually near my hometown in Turkey! We have never been there which is a shame really! I would love to see how it looks. Unfortunately, the temple was destroyed…

Fun fact! The temple of Artemis is one of the Seven Wonders of the World! There are a total of 2 buildings located in Turkey that are part of these wonders!

 – Mount Nemrut –

I would die to go here, for real. According to the stories, there is a temple located on the top of this mountain. Some of the remains are gigantic heads of the 9 meter high statues. The reason why the heads were ” cut off ” is unknown. It looks hella creepy and I want to go there!

 – Mausoleum at Halicarnassus –

There is not much left of this place, unfotunately. It used to be a tomb for Mausoleum, a satrap in the Persian Empire. This place is also one of the Seven Wonders of the World!

 – Aspendos –

I WANT TO GO HERE SO BADLY. IT LOOKS SO FREAKING DOPE. ASPENDOS USED TO BE A CITY AND NOW IT’S JUST REMAINS. ITS LIKE A ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE IN ANCIENT GREEK STYLE

 – Pamukkale –

This has got to be the number one place I want to visit in Turkey. My parents have pictures of them being there and it looks absolutely beautiful. It looks like there are meters of snow surrounding you, but it’s actually carbonate minerals that built up due to the flowing water.

 – Sulemaniye Mosque –

We went to this mosque in 2011 and the inside is even more beautiful than the outside!

 – Dolma Palace –

We also went to this place in 2011 and I remember the quide telling us that some of the lamps were made of diamonds that were 200 carats!

 * So I think I deleted the picture of this building, so I’ll just show you the actual pictures*

 – Basilica Cistern –

This was the first museum/monument we went in 2011. It’s basically  an underground temple sort of thing. I think it also provided the water system for the palaces back in the days.  For some reason there is also an Medusa head in the temple.
